Website - FINAL
http://daniellejoshua.wix.com/media
This is the link to my website. The first thing I did whilst making my website was focus on images. I wanted to create links between the music video, website and digipak. So I chose to use screen shots from the music video as the header and background for my website homepage.
I chose this image as the header as a way for the audience to identify the music video with this website. I feel as if the dolls have become a logo for the band and is now a way for their fans to recognise if a product belongs to the band or not. I also think that the dolls reflect the dark and mysterious image I have chosen to portray the band.
I chose to use this picture as the background for my website as it is showing the main character and his love obsession. This is also a way of connecting the narrative of the music video and the website.
The next thing I did when making the music video was think about convergence and promotion of the band. I decided to connect the website with the bands twitter, facebook, youtube and soundcloud pages, this would further promote the band's music and keep them interacting with their fans. As well as this it would help the band to be found by people who weren't fans of them previously, but had just happened to stumble across the band whilst browsing these social network sites. I feel that this is perhaps the most important element of the website as new media is definitely very important in helping to promote a band as well as helping with the exchange of their products.
I advertised the "new single" Two Devils on the side of the homepage and ticked the box [show on every page] and linked it to itunes where you could purchase the single. I also posted an embedded link onto the website with the music video. This creates a link with my music video and my ancillary tasks.
Another thing I decided to do whilst making my website was to post dates of where and when the band was performing and again ticked the box [show on every page] so that fans are up to date with the band. I think this is very important when thinking about target audience. The target audience of the band are late teens, who do not want to be spending hours on one website. So information needs to be quick and easy to follow and digest. By creating links between social networks and giving them all the information they need as soon as they get onto the website allows them to get the information they want and also know that if they need to check new dates of the band touring they can do so through the website or any of the other social medias.
I created a second page for the website "News and Blog" which had all the news from the band themselves. This is very important as the fans will feel a sense of relationship between them and the band and are therefore more likely to keep coming back to the website to check up on recent news.

Digipak - FINAL
These are the final images for my digipak.
This is the front cover of my digipak. I chose to use a screen capture of the establishing shot of the dolls from the music video. This will help the audience to identify with the band and the product (music video and song). I chose not to use a picture of the band because our music video does not have any shots of the artist, and in most digipaks of the same genre of Dog Is Dead there is normally a different image on the front cover. These images sometimes relate to the music video - like mine does - but mostly they do not have any relation to the music video.
How I created the image
I chose to use another screen capture of the music video for the first inner image of my digipak. This one is when our character is getting ready for the date. I chose to put this image next because the digipak then goes in the same order as the music video narrative as well as showing a progression of the emotions of the video. This will further help to link the digipak and the music video.
This links with the previous image because in the previous image there are two images of "people" and in this image there are two images of the same person. However this symbolises the two sides of the boy that we see in the music video. He conveys emotions of excitement, and of anger.
How I created the image
The next image I chose to use for the second inner image of my digipak, is again a screen capture of the music video. This is a close up of the shrine of the girl that our character steers his affection to. This shows the progression of our music video with the progression of the digipak. The CD will be placed over this image and when it is removed by an audience member, it will be like a revealing of the shrine, just how the shrine is revealed from a cupboard by the character.
This links with the previous image as the light from the sonic screwdriver of the previous image links with the light from the candles in this image.
How I created the image
The image I chose to use for the back cover of my digipak is again a screen shot of the music video. This one is a behind the head shot of the character of the music video waiting for his date to arrive. I chose this image because this is the main theme of the music video.
It links with the previous images because of the lighting.
